: : : Let's find your way into this pipeline
'''''''' ''''''''''''''''''
Finding your way into the pipeline might be more of an intuitive type of work, but we can provide a starting point. Once you choose the path of the trickster, your pathways will reveal themselves. But a little push goes a long way ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Preliminary: a clarification
The right-wing pipeline does not look the same in the U.S. or in Mexico or in Japan. They will, of course, eventually touch. Our right-wing relationship map might help orient you if you're in one of the first countries, but it is of course by no means exhaustive. It is very likely that once you pull a thread, you'll find your way into the big right-wing spenders. The clearest way to figure out where you stand is to notice which right-wing narratives are trying to pull you in. Their messaging is always tied up with gender, among other things. That means the rhetoric coming from the nearest possible source is your easiest target. This is not to say that you should start trolling your friends or family, the idea here is to find sources of active harm in the alt-right pipeline, not weaken relationships. So, please approach this manual and your experiments with nuance.
Orient yourself: where are you standing?
Where can you find near points of recruitment? Is it inside your phone, with videos in YouTube or Tiktok that are targeting you because of your gender? Is the cost of living in your city rising up, and is it a city in the global north? Then expect anti-immigrant propaganda to be on the rise. Are you on Twitter, where all the paid bots are arguing about the imperfection of a celebrity's body? Is your local church giving a platform to right-wing speakers? Is it maybe warming up to the idea of giving them a platform? Find the area where cross-contamination is viable.
What are they saying? (Message)
"Why are we never allowed to talk honestly about who's committing the crimes?", "Our culture is under attack", "Feminism is destroying the workforce", "Men will see this and get motivated" (with a picture of a very often white woman and a baby). What are the messages being spread? If you're dealing with a very open, explicit hateful message, your tactics will change. If they're being encoded into something else, then your tactics can adapt to them.
Where are they saying it? (Medium and channels)
What's their strongest medium? How old is their audience? Are they targeting a specific gender? Where does their audience hang out? What's a way you could reach them? Are they the type of audience who respond more to in-person happenings or are they chronically online? Digital messaging can be extremely precise if you're willing to make a deal with the techno-devil. In-person media can have more of an impact, and it can be more fun, but you can run the risk of unmasking yourself and burning your trickster mask.
Who's funding it?
Who's funding your nearest right-winger? Again, you might find it useful to take a look at our map, but there are, of course, many funding sources for the micro-influencers building this pipeline. You won't be able to find all the funding sources, but a little bit of research may help you find some threads. Search public records for company registration marks, research corporations that pay for these people. Is there any way you can manufacture a way to source that money towards your own trick? Towards someone else's trick? Look for openings.
What can you get away with?
Depending on where you live, you can get away with different things. There's a certain streak of tech right-wingers advocating for less strict copyright laws, a change from the usual conservative position that wants to find even new ways to own things and protect them from collective ownership. This is the time to adopt the tech bro's ethos of thinking globally and acting fast, of using their own feuds to your advantage. More information on how to stay legally safe will be published on this website in the coming months.
What type of resources do you need?
If you're going to use digital resources like making deepfakes or releasing bots, then you may need a sizable amount of money to produce them monthly. Then you might find that this requires more of a collective effort. If you are making flyers, books, pdfs, you'll need less resources, but a bit more time. Make an estimate of the resources you need and how much of your time and money you can commit to the bit. Or find leaks - if you don't have the resources to make deepfakes, then fake your way into meetings, or find ways to waste people's times or obstruct their way into the pipeline.
